Meet the Team
Robert "Buddy" Hellner, CPO
Prosthetist / Orthotist
Robert graduated with high honors from Michigan State University in 1972 with a Bachelor's of Science degree. Robert completed his prosthetic and orthotic schooling at UCLA and NYU and has been a certified practitioner in the field since 1978.
Buddy, as he is known to his patients and friends, has had a diverse career experience in both private practice and also as the Director of Prosthetics at the University of Michigan Hospital. He is perhaps most proud of his 25+ years of servicing the needs of our veterans at the Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital.
In addition to his American Board Certification (ABC), Robert has continuously updated his credentials and continued his education to take advantage of all the newest technologies to serve his patients. Most recently he has completed the required courses to offer microprocessor knees (Rheo Knee by Ossur and C-Leg by Otto Bock).
Adrienne O'Day, MSOP, CPO
Adrienne is the newest addition to our team. She has an engineering degree from the University of Michigan and her Master's degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics from Eastern Michigan University. Her competencies include upper and lower extremity prosthetics, aftercare for stroke survivors and spinal orthoses for surgical and nonsurgical care. As a triathlete, Adrienne also has unique insights into the bracing needs of the elite and everyday athlete. We enjoy her positive energy and compassionate care for her clients.
Cassi DePaulis, MSOP
Cassi received both her Associates Degree in Orthotic and Prosthetic Technology and her Bachelor degree in Health Service Administration from Baker College. She has just completed her Master's degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics at Eastern Michigan University and is currently in her Prosthetic Residency here at Hellner & Associates. Cassi has been a part of our organization for 4 years and her strong technical/mechanical skills make her an invaluable addition to our team. We are very fortunate that she opted for her residency with us.
Theresa Wolterman and Stacey Irwin bring a combined 30+ years of experience to our workplace. They are truly to be considered reimbursement specialists and work hard to provide a clear expectation of service and insurance coverage for all our patients prior to leaving our office. In addition to their knowledge, they always have a smile and a warm cup of coffee available.
Residents and pups
For a small office, Hellner and Associates is a pretty busy place. For the past 5 years we have participated in residency programs at EMU (clinician residents) and Baker College (technician residents) so there are often other 'white coats' around.
Hellner & Associates is also dog friendly and you may be greeted with a friendly "woof” If you have allergies or other dog issues please let us know and we will accommodate you.
